The story behind this piece:
I usually do art from my point of view as a black woman but for this one, I had to make sure my black men's voices were heard. I collected offensive, stereotypical, and racist words that black men shared with me they'd been told, and I opposed this hatefulness with uplifting words I need my black men to know and recognize they are. This man lifts them both up because love or hate, he has to carry it all, including where he comes from and where he strives to go.. Breaking chains and barriers along the way..
